Robert Rolston has in excess of 40 years experience working within the accordion industry.

Robert has worked closely with many factories in Castelfidardo and in 2008 moved to Italy to expand his accordion repair business to include all types of repair work. During this time Robert discovered it was possible to make his own instrument and developed the Manfrini Accordion. In 2011 Robert came back to Scotland to promote the Manfrini Accordion and to further advance his accordion repair business.

Patrick Jackman has worked with Robert for many years and like Robert, Patrick did much of his training in Italy.

Patrick valves and waxes the reeds into the accordion reed blocks for Manfrini  Accordions and for customers who want their accordions refurbished.

Reed tongues are set and ready for valving

Reed tongues are set and ready for valving. This is a very important stage in the final build as badly set tongues use more air so we always ensure these are set correctly.

Hand made reeds valved and ready to be waxed into the reed block

Hand made reeds valved and ready to be waxed into the reed block. Note that all the valves sit flat to the reed plate. This will ensure the reed sounds properly with no vibration at lower volumes. We use leather with strengtheners on the larger reeds on all our accordions as standard, usually this would only be found in the more expensive top of the range accordion.
